Biography. Cheryl Braganza
Cheryl Braganza, an artist/writer born in India, studied art and music in Italy and the UK before arriving in Montréal in 1966 where she took sculpture and painting at l’École des Beaux Arts and Concordia University. In 2008 she was chosen Montreal Woman of the Year by the Montreal Council of Women for helping integrate immigrate women through art. In 2010, ELAN (English Language Arts Network) selected her as one of the RAEV artists (Recognizing Artists: Enfin Visibles). Her acrylic paintings with vibrant colors and imagery echo peace, hope and infinite renewal. She collaborates closely with organizations that focus on human rights, in particular, women’s rights. Images of her work have appeared on academic book covers, the McGill University calendar, Peace agendas, The Canadian Women’s Journal, The Federation of Zoroastrians of North America, women’s shelters & Peace and Development websites. Presently she is the Coordinator for Culture and Heritage for the National Council of Women of Canada and the President of the Women’s Art Society of Montréal. As a cancer survivor, she feels energized enough to paint every day.
