Marina Gavanski Zissis

Marina Gavanski Zissis was born in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia and immigrated to North America in 1962. In 1979, she received her masters on Fine Arts from the University of Belgrade. Her art is a merge of the reality of the flesh and nature of spirit. Marina has taken part in many solo and group exhibitions in Canada. Exploring complex, fragile human emotions, which exist in, despite our rapid digital era, Marina paints the corporal luminosity of life. Channeling the model's and her personal objective experience, she transfers that energy into line, form and color. The canvas permits her to record moments of our travel through time, evoking the raw body layered with nerves, muscles, skin; the raw mind layered with instincts, memories and perceptions.
